13 DAYS KAILASH JOURNEY
Kailash has long been an object of worship for four major religions. To Buddhists this mountain is the abode of Demchok, the wrathful manifestation of Sakyamuni, to Hindus it is the dwelling of Lord Shiva - the destroyer and transformer, and to the Jains of India it is a site at which the first of their saints was emancipated. To Bon people Mt Kailash is a sacred nine-stacked-swastika mountain upon which the Bonpo founder Shenrab alighted from heaven and according to the sacred Sanskrit literature called the Vishnu Purana it is a representation of Mt Sumeru, the cosmic mountain at the center of the universe.
Our 13 days Kailash Pilgrimage tour takes you to the secluded highlands of western Tibet and on the fifth day of departure you will arrive at Lake Manasarovar. The next day you will take a holy dip in the lake before circumambulating it. Then you will start the Kailash parikarma which involves three days of walking around the base of the holy Mt. Kailash. During the trek you will be provided breakfast, packed lunch and cooked dinner by our trekking staff. Upon completion of the Parikarma you will drive to Asthapath from where you can have a full view of the Holy Mt. Kailash - right from the top to the base of the mountain. After having paid homage to the holy Mt. Kailalsh and the Lake Manasarovar you will then drive back to Nepal.
ITINERARY
Day 01.
Drive Kathmandu-Nyalam(3750m) – 160 kms (Guest House).
Day 02.
Acclimatization day (Guest House).
Day 03.
Drive Nyalam-Saga (4640m) - 230 kms – 9 hrs (Guest House).
Day 04.
Drive Saga-Paryang (4500m) – 230 kms - 8 hrs (Guest House).
Day 05.
Drive Paryang-Hor Quo (4560m) – 223 kms - 8 hrs (Camp).
Day 06.
Drive to Darchen with Mansarovar circumbulance ( Guest House).
Day 07.
Acclimatization day (Guest House).
Day 08.
Drive Tarboche and Trek to Dirapuk (5hrs) - (Camp).
Day 09.
Trek and high Pass 5200m-9 hrs walk to Zutulpuk-(Camp).
Day 10.
Trek 4 hrs to Darchen and Drive to Paryang-(Guest House).
Day 11.
Drive Paryang- Saga ( approx. 8 hrs.) 255 km (Guest House).
Day 12.
Drive Saga-Nyalam(approx. 7 hrs.) 240 km (Hotel or Guest House).
Day 13.
Drive Nyalam-Kathmandu.
