Tibet Overland Tour
One of the best tours to Tibet is the 08 Days Tibet Overland tour whereby you fly to Lhasa and then drive overland back to Kathmandu. This is a spectacular overland journey from Lhasa to Kathmandu. You begin with an hour long Trans-Himalayan flight to Lhasa, which is the center of administration and authority in Tibet. This flight offers you the aerial view of some of the tallest mountains on earth. After two days of exciting sightseeing tours in and around Lhasa city you will begin the overland journey from Lhasa to Kathmandu via the Friendship highway passing through old Tibetan townships and high passes on the way along with sightseeing of the beautiful monasteries of these townships. 08 Days Tibet Overland tour provides you breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges including Mt. Everest (8,848m) from the vicinity of the Friendship highway. The last part of the tour offers fascinating views of the incredible formation of the highest plateau of the world with awesomely beautiful rocks, cascades and canyons slightly hidden in the thin flying mists amidst the mighty presence of Mt. Sisapangma (8,212m). From the plateau we drive through lush greenery with cascading waterfalls towards Nepal.
ITINERARY
Day 01.
Fly to Lhasa 3,595 m then drive to Tsedang. Walking tour of Tibetan part.O/N Hotel
Day 02.
Today we will visit Potala Palace, Drepung and Nechung Monasteries O/N Hotel
Day 03.
This day we will visit Jokhang Monastery and explore the bustling Bharkhor market, Tibetan medical centre and Norbulingka Palace O/N hotel
Day 04.
We will drive to Gyantse (3,850 m) which is 261 km from Lhasa. Visit Palkor and Kumbum Monastery. O/N hotel
Day 05.
Today is a short drive to Xigatse (3,900 m) which is 90 km . In Xigatse we will visit Tashilunpo Monastery.O/N hotel
Day 06.
Drive 268 kms to Tingri (3,900m) crossing some high passes i.e. Tsoula Pass(4,500m) and Gyatso La (5,200 m) – Overnight hotel/guest house
Day 07.
Today we drive for around 7 hrs. to Nepal Tibet border Zhangmu. O/N hotel.
Day 08.
After immigration formalities we will drive to Kathmandu which will take around 6 hrs.
